IGNOU to open study centre at Etcherla


Indira Gandhi National Open University will open its study centre for post-graduate programmes at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Etcherla (Srikakulam), soon, according to S. Raja Rao, Regional Director of IGNOU.

It has also plans to open a study centre for music and fine arts at Vizianagaram as there is a lot of demand for courses in these subjects, Dr. Raja Rao said at a press conference he addressed here along with Assistant Regional Directors G. Anbalagan and Bamsidhar Bari.

The two-year-old regional centre, with a jurisdiction of five districts from Srikakulam to West Godavari, has admitted 4,200 students so far in various masters, degree, PG diploma, diploma, certificate and awareness programmes and around 1,500 students are expected to join during the January admission session. Programmes more popular with people of this area are MBA, M.Ed, M.A. in English and public administration and B.Sc. in nursing.

IGNOU is introducing a certificate course in library and information science, PG diploma in analytical chemistry; M.Sc. in dietetics and food and MA in gender and development from the January admission session. Considering the demand for chartered accountancy, IGNOU has already introduced specialised B.Com. programme leading to dual degree and similar programmes are also available for ICWAI and ICSI candidates.

All the IGNOU courses have been recognised by country’s regulatory bodies like UGC and accepted as qualification for government jobs.

Entrance test

IGNOUR is conducting its OPENMAT-XXXV, the entrance test for its MBA and other management programmes on February 23. It is also offering six PG diplomas and diploma in various management areas.

Application forms have to be sent to the Registrar (SED), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, News Delhi 110 068 by registered post or speed post.

Graduates in any discipline with 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for reserved categories) and having three years in supervisory or managerial position or a professional degree like engineering, medicine, CA, ICWAI or company secretaryship or law with 50 per cent marks are eligible to appear for the entrance test and qualify in it to secure a seat.

IGNOU admission last date extended


Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended last date for admission to its January 2014 session from December 31 to January 15.

Applications are invited for masters, degree, postgraduate diploma, diploma, certificate and awareness programmes with late fees of Rs. 500. According to IGNOU Regional Director S. Raja Rao, admissions are open for Master’s programmes like M.Com, MSW and MA in rural development, tourism management, English, Hindi, philosophy, education and political science.

Common prospectus can be obtained from IGNOU regional centre in Ushodaya Junction, MVP Colony and study centres at Dr. L. Bullayya College, Visakhapatnam, Ideal College, Kakinada, DNR College, Bhimavaram or Maharajah’s Post Graduate College, Vizianagaram,

 

IGNOU B.Ed. counselling on December 27


Counselling for admission into B.Ed. course of January 2014 session of IGNOU will be conducted at its Regional Centre here from 10.30 a.m. on December 27, Regional Director S. Raja Rao has said.

Admission counselling letters were despatched by Speed Post on December 12 to all the candidates who qualified in the entrance examination held on September 8, he said on Sunday.

Candidates have to bring original certificates, he said.

They also have to produced the following documents: acceptance form, attested copy of degree certificates and marks lists, teaching experience certificate in original for the last two years, present employment certificate in original with date and month and year of working, permission from the school where they are employed for doing teaching practice, declaration of Mentors Form, category certificate or OBC non-creamy layer certificate issued by the government, physically handicapped certificate issued by the competent authority, entrance test hall-ticket along with a demand draft for Rs.20,000 drawn in favour of ‘IGNOU’ payable at Visakhapatnam, and identity card (available in prospectus) affixed with a recent photograph.

IGNOU entrance on February 23


The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will conduct an entrance examination on February 23 all over the country for admission into the Diploma and MBA programmes for July 2014 cycle.

Admission into PG Diploma in Management in financial management, operations management, marketing management, and Human Resources Manager will be made through the entrance – OPENMAT-XXXV, a press release said.

Student handbook and prospectus can be had from Regional Centre, S.K.P.V.V. Hindu High School premises, Kothapet, in Vijayawada, T.J.P.S. College in Guntur, V.R. College in Nellore, Kavitha Memorail Degree College, Khammam by sending Rs.1,050 through a demand draft in favour of IGNOU payable at Viajayawada. The last date for getting prospectus is January 15 and application form can be downloaded from http://www.ignou.ac.in

 

IGNOU admissions commence


Admissions into the masters, degree, PG diploma, diploma, certificate and awareness programmes of January 2014 session of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has commenced, its Regional Director S. Raja Rao informed in a press release on Thursday.

Admissions are open till December 16 and applications are accepted till December 31 with a late fee of Rs. 500.

IGNOU is offering more than 15 masters programmes; more than 10 disciplines at the degree-level; many job-oriented diploma and certificate programmes and its 10 law programmes are taught through an exclusive study centre at Damodaram Sanjeevayya National Law University here, Dr. Raja Rao said. There is no entrance test for MCA in IGNOU, he added.

Candidates residing in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts can apply for admission into its courses.
