Seven devotees launch 7,000-km ‘holy’ trek


Seven devotees under the banner of the ‘108 Divyadesa Holy Padayatra Trust’ on Monday embarked on an ambitious trek to various temples in the country.

The Chennai-based members, who launched their holy trek at the Sri Govindaraja temple here, would walk for a distance of 7,000 km, covering Kasi, Dwaraka and other shrines before returning to Tirupati after seven months.

Travel writer Mynaa Swamy, who received the devotees here on Monday, said that the trek was aimed at spreading the message of religious and spiritual harmony among people.

The devotee team, led by 80-year-old C. Ramaiah has M.Kannan, Chidambaram, Ramanathan, Chittiappan, Kalinga Ratnam and Karunai Rajan as the members.
