Ranganathittu bird sanctuary to host south India’s first bird festival
South India’s first bird festival will be held at Ranganathittu bird sanctuary, near Mysuru, from March 27 to 29. It seeks to highlight bird conservation and watching.
The three-day festival is being organised by the Karnataka Eco Tourism Development Board, in association with the Karnataka Forest Department and R Square Consulting. It is not only expected to draw nature enthusiasts and wildlife photographers, but also increase awareness among general public about the significance of birds and the important role they play in the eco-system.
According to the organisers, the festival features guided bird-watching walks, bird race and a bird quiz for youngsters and children; workshops on bird photography and other special topics, talks and slide presentations by well-known experts and naturalists, and a photo exhibition.
Event is being held by Eco Tourism Development Board, Forest Department and R Square
Objective is to highlight importance of bird conservation and watching.
