The TTD’s Executive Officer D. Sambasiva Rao on Thursday formally released ‘Manmadha nama’ Telugu almanac (Panchangam).
At a brief function organised in front of the main temple complex Dr. Rao lauded the almanac as an ancient Vedic calendar designed with five basic elements – Tithi, Vara, Nakshatra, Karana and Yoga which assists an individual in leading a systematic way of life in accordance to the positioning of sun, moon, planets and other stars in the constellation as per his zodiac sign. The Vedic almanac formulated on the basis of Indian astrological computations is also revered for its precision.
The almanac has been brought out in two different regional languages. While 75,000 copies have been printed in Telugu with the price pegged at Rs.75 each, 3,000 copies have been brought out in Tamil at Rs.45 each. With the sudden demise of the TTD’s court astrologer Sri Tangirala Prabhakara Purnaiah Siddhanthi his brother Sri Tangirala Venkata Krishna Purna Prasad compiled the new almanac.
The book which has already hit the stands today both at Tirumala and Tirupati will be made available in other towns in the ensuing weeks Dr. Rao said.
