Seers and sages will soon launch door-to-door campaign to create awareness among people on the growing threat to the Hindu religion and traditions in Tirupati, considered the abode of Lord Venkateswara.
Tirumala Tirupati Pavitratha Samrakshana Vedika proposed to form ‘Srivari Dandu’ to spread consciousness on how Tirupati should be developed as an ideal destination for spiritualism. A band of 52 Swamijis led by Saiva Kshetra Peetadhipathi Sri Siva Swamiji on Thursday embarked on ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Hindu Chaitanyam’, the task of meeting 15,000 Hindu households in the city and enrolling them as members of the ‘Dandu.’
The four-day campaign formally began with the acceptance of the application by noted orthopaedic surgeon Pasupuleti Hariprasad as a member. The Dandu envisages creating awareness on the need to hand over the Tirumala temple to an autonomous body supervised by seers and savants and declaring the Tirupati area, as mentioned in Puranas, as the domain of Lord Venkateswara. “We also want Tirupati, be declared as the spiritual capital, just as Vatican is for the Christians and the Mecca for Muslims ”, demanded the Vedika’s spokesperson Akula Krishna Kishore.
