The government will make efforts to involve more departments for better implementation of the ban on tobacco products in Hyderabad, said Ajay Sawhney, Principal Secretary, Health, on Tuesday. Meanwhile, voluntary organisations held a day-long fast in the city on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The day was also marked by awareness programmes organised by various hospitals. The State-run MNJ Cancer Hospital conducted a blood donation drive and released a booklet on the disease. Doctors at LVPEI urged the public to focus on retinoblastoma, an eye cancer that occurs in children under three years, but curable if diagnosed early.
