A two-day exhibition of paintings by amateur artists, comprising the family of a port official, evoked a good response here on Sunday.
The two-day event named ‘The Canvas Sojourn’ was organised by Harbour Master of Tuticorin Port Capt. S.R. Pattanayak, his wife Sumita, and son Sreyas.
Fifty-odd paintings made with oil pastel, charcoal, oil paint, and water colour with multiple themes were displayed.
“Some of the paintings spanned four years of creativity,”
Mr. Patnaik, who earlier worked as a Pilot in Visakhapatnam Port, said.
The two-day exhibition, which will be open at Hotel Palm Beach from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, was inaugurated by Dredging Corporation of India Chairman and Managing Director Capt. D.K. Mohanty.
In his speech, he praised the efforts made by the Pattanayaks to be creative and innovative in their paintings.
Prominent visitors included former Odisha Chief Minister Giridhar Gamang, Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj president and Orissa Stevedores Ltd General Manager J.K. Nayak, and INTACH activist Mayank Kumari Deo.
