Kursura Submarine Museum on the Beach Road was extended the official honour of Dressing Ship on par with the warships and submarines in service with the Indian Navy.

On the Republic Day, a team of four from the Eastern Naval Command hoisted all the 52 official flags of Indian Navy along with the National Flag on the Kursura Submarine at sunrise.

The Dressing Ship honour has been extended as a rare status to the Kursura Submarine even after its decommissioning from the Indian Navy and its conversion into a museum. Since the submarine is one of the first generation submarines of the Indian Navy and played crucial role in the Indo-Pak War in 1971, the Indian Navy continued the status of Dressing Ship to it.
