‘Millet Fest-2014’ begins today

A ‘Millet Fest-2014’ is being held on Gunta Grounds during January 25-26.

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), Directorate of Agriculture, College of Food Science and Technology, Bapatla, Directorate of Sorghum Research, ICAR, Hyderabad, farmers, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Abyudaya Rythu Club and various private millet and food processing units will arrange stalls in the exhibition-cum-sale, according to event convenor and associate dean J. Lakshmi. Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana, ANGRAU Vice-Chancellor A. Padmaraju, Faculty of Home Science, Hyderabad, Dean Anurag Chaturvedi, Commissioner of Agriculture Madhusudhan Rao and others would inaugurate the exhibition at 11.30 a.m. on Saturday.

The aim of the festival is to explain the nutritional value of millets, said Dr. Lakshmi.
