Students take part in Pulse Polio

RambabuStudents of the Government Junior College took active part in administering pulse polio drops to about 47,000 children in all the 50 wards in Rajahmundry city on Sunday.

MLA Rowthu Suryparakasha Rao and Municipal Commissioner V. Rajendraprasad have administered pulse polio drops to children between 0-5 age group in Meraka Veedhi Municipal School at around 9 a.m. Municipal Health Officers M.S.R. Murthy and Satyadev attended the programme.

According to Dr. Murthy, the corporation’s Medical and Health Department had arranged 175 pulse polio centres and 35 transit halt centres in the city and 10 route officers have covered all these centres.

He said that at each centre the municipal corporation has arranged four workers including one Asha worker, NSS volunteer, NCC cadet and a municipal health official.

Dr. Murthy said that nursing students from Priyadarshini Nurshing School also helped.

District T.B. Control Officer Dr. Prasanna Kumar, district immunisation statistical officer V. Veerraju and others participated in the programme.
